My CK (creatine kinase) values!
I considered my CK values pretty high according to my personal feeling and the measurements over the last few years.
To clarify this, I recently spoke to my neurologist! Told her that my CPK values sometimes are more than ten sometimes 20 times the normal value
(normal values are according to lab <190 U / l).
She said that was no cause for concern!
Bodybuilder, e.g. would have much higher values. If I would reach the 6000 U / l over a longer time… this could be problematic. She mentioned dialysis as a solution for that.
Unfortunately, I am not a bodybuilder and of course worry about the increased values. I always tried to keep in mind not to overdo it and not to overstrain my muscles. But even without doing anything, my values remain the same or even go up. I was told that there seems to be a constant degeneration of the muscles due to the condition SBMA.
She was not able to tell me what to do against it. She mentioned that even little injuries of the skin can elevate the CPK.
BUT … I don't see it like that. Even at times when I was diagnosed and had all kinds of examination including lumbar puncture… and all the ugly things, my CPK level was not that high.
I suspect that other factors may play a role:
- Certain medication
- Kidney problems
